Adriana begs the boatman to rescue her husband. Rafael and Ingrid worry when they learn that their mother has filed for legal incapacitation for their uncle. Seeing Pedro's happiness at the news of the pregnancy, Bruna goes along with her mother's lie. Pedro volunteers to help the homeless and meets Elisa and her family. Adriana learns of Carlos's death, and her family comforts her.

Arthur has a conflict with Adriana. Pedro promises to explain to Bruna who owns the bracelet he found. Brigitte watches the images from the microcamera she installed in Pituxo's house. Adriana goes to the job interview with Arthur, and they are both surprised to recognize each other. Arthur hires Adriana as a physiotherapist after they argue. Arthur praises Adriana's work.

Arthur praises Adriana's work, but ends up firing her after a misunderstanding. Arthur learns of Adriana's situation and goes to the shelter to look for the physiotherapist. Otoniel treats Arthur with hostility, but Elisa asks if he wants to wait for Adriana to arrive. Cleber notices that Pedro can't get Adriana out of his head. Arthur offers Adriana her job back.

Adriana gets emotional when Pedro returns the bracelet she had lost. Adriana is surprised by Pilar, who shows up at the house Arthur lent to the young woman's family and questions what they are doing there. Pilar is hostile towards Adriana and accuses her and her family of having invaded the house where she was raised. Arthur argues with the family.

Carmita fakes a fainting spell so Bruna misses her appointment with the obstetrician. A police officer informs Otoniel that he has received a report of home invasion. Ademir informs Arthur that the client's report attests to his mental sanity, but also informs him that the hearing has already been scheduled. Adriana discovers that Otoniel and Elisa have gone to the police station. The police chief informs Otoniel and Elisa that they will be detained.

Ademir fears Arthur's confused behavior in front of the Judge. Diná threatens to fire Adriana. Tilde drinks Arthur's orange juice, unaware that Pilar put a tranquilizer in it. The Judge accepts Ademir's request to postpone the hearing. Otoniel tells Elisa about the woman who appeared at the flower stall. Adriana realizes that Pilar sabotaged Arthur's juice. Arthur fires Ingrid in order to get back at Pilar.

Pedro seeks out Ademir and tells him about Bruna's pregnancy. Ademir is threatened. Pedro's car is intentionally cut off by another car, causing it to overturn. Arthur proposes to Adriana and makes it clear that he wants her to be the sole inheritor of his fortune. Pedro reacts when the doctor informs him that Bruna was never pregnant. Adriana tells Elisa about Arthur's marriage proposal.

Pedro breaks up with Bruna. Adriana tells Elisa about Arthur's marriage proposal. Bruna blames Carmita for the end of her relationship with Pedro. Adriana tells Arthur that she cannot accept the marriage proposal and considers interrupting her physiotherapy treatment. Otoniel breaks into Arthur's house and threatens the jeweler's life in front of Adriana.

Adriana argues with Diná, who swears revenge against the young woman. Pilar and Ulisses show that they have changed their minds about not going to their brother's wedding. Pedro is stunned to see that Arthur's bride is Adriana, and reveals that he loves the physiotherapist. During the wedding ceremony, the power goes out in Arthur's building. Adriana is distraught when she finds Arthur lying on the sidewalk.

The investigator informs the police chief that the preliminary forensic report confirms that Arthur was pushed. Pedro tells Cléber that, after the testimonies, Adriana is the prime suspect in Arthur's death. Pilar asks Ademir to be the Brandão family's lawyer against Adriana. Pilar demands that Ademir use his methods to convict Adriana. Adriana receives a new summons from the police to testify.
